Day of the Jackal – Mid-Range Control Box for Stocks AG Applicators

Stocks Ag has a new mid-range controller for its range of pneumatic, gravity-fed and spinning disc applicators.

Stocks AG is now offering our new Jackal mid-range control box as an option for their range of pneumatic precision and spinning disc applicators. They selected the JACKAL due to its versatility in all conditions, and it receives annual updates with innovative software.

With its keypad menu navigation, the Jackal is easy to operate and robust, providing users with a wealth of functionality. Notably, it can process either a radar or gearbox speed signal from the tractor’s seven-pin ISO socket, enabling forward speed-related rate control. Additionally, it can be supplied with a GPS receiver for this purpose.

Users will appreciate the large, easily readable characters on the backlit LCD screen, which provide real-time readouts of application rates, forward speed, area worked, fan status, and hopper level. Moreover, programmable ‘Hotkeys’ allow operators to switch between two preset application rates and enable on-the-move rate adjustments.

By slotting in between the base-specification VS-2 control box and the top-end color touchscreen i-CON, the mid-range control box Jackal offers purchasers of Stocks’ Turbo Jet, Rotor Meter, Fan Jet Plus, Maxi Meter, and Micro Meter applicators three cost options and varying levels of functionality.

While the toggle-switch and dial-operated entry-level VS-2 provides manual rate control adjustment and certain preset options, the mid-range Jackal enhances this experience with real-time machine status monitoring and speed-related rate control. In contrast, the top-spec i-CON delivers touchscreen functionality and can handle variable application rates via maps uploaded by USB or SD card.

Furthermore, the Jackal control box simplifies the calibration of any applicator. At the touch of a button, it prompts the metering unit to dispense a specified amount of product. Once weighed, the computer adjusts the metering roller speed to ensure the most precise application rates.

Ultimately, moving to this ultra-accurate system allows users to meter out product at incredibly low rates, down to below 1 kg/ha. This feature is particularly beneficial when spreading granular products like Avadex or when sowing hybrid brassicas such as OSR.
